Day 1, Sun, 12.01.2025: Welcome to South Africa – Wamkelekile!

Your gay adventure begins! Upon your arrival at the Cape Town Airport, you’ll be greeted by your driver and taken to your hotel in the heart of Greenpoint, a trendy area of Cape Town with lively bars, restaurants, and clubs. In the afternoon (at the very latest), you’ll meet up with your guide and the other guys for an exciting tour of the city. You’ll quickly understand why Cape Town – also known as the Mother City – is considered the most beautiful city on earth. If the weather’s good, you’ll take a lift up to Table Mountain. From an altitude of 1,000 metres, you’ll have an absolutely breathtaking view of Cape Town and the endless ocean.

Day 2, Mon, 13.01.2025: To the edge of Africa

Did you sleep well? Make sure to keep your eyes open on today’s ride along Chapman’s Peak Drive, a breathtaking coastal road that you may recognise from numerous car commercials. On your way to the Cape of Good Hope, you’ll drive past beaches of fine white sand and will be amazed by the dramatic cliffs and ocean waves with sea spray. After a photo stop at the Cape of Good Hope, you’ll head to your next highlight, Cape Point. By funicular (optional) or by foot, you’ll climb to the top of the most south westerly point of Africa. From here, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view. You’ll end the second day of your gay adventure with a visit to the penguin colony at Boulders Beach.

Day 3, Tue, 14.01.2025: The wine country calls

Today, you’ll take a trip to the sunny wine region in and around Stellenbosch, Paarl, and Franschhoek. Idyllic vineyards, countryside, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines, and 300 years of history are waiting to be explored. You’ll start with a visit to a winery in Stellenbosch including wine tasting and a cellar tour. You’ll then continue to Rhebokskloof near Paarl, where a delicious chocolate and wine tasting has been arranged for you. If you still have some time afterwards, you’ll make a brief stop in the picturesque town of Franschhoek on your way back.

Day 4, Wed, 15.01.2025: The legendary Garden Route

Day 5, Thu, 16.01.2025: Close encounters with dolphins

Another unforgettable boat trip awaits you in the neighbouring seaside resort of Plettenberg Bay. Make sure to keep watch for dolphins and seals, which are indigenous to the area in large numbers. The afternoon is free for you to explore on your own. Make the most of your gay holiday – take this time to enjoy the Knysna Waterfront or maybe take a ride in a double kayak!

Day 6, Fri, 17.01.2025: Time to monkey around

Today you’ll continue along the Garden Route to Port Elizabeth. On the way there, you’ll stop in Plettenberg Bay where you can marvel at the white sandy beaches, shimmering turquoise waters, and rolling green hills that make the seaside town so special. While you’re here, you can also visit the Robberg Nature Reserve (additional fee, payable on site) where you can enjoy views across the bay to the Tsitsikamma Mountains with dramatic cliffs as well as the colony of Cape fur seals. You can also just spend a few hours relaxing on the beach. Afterwards, you’ll head off to the Monkeyland Sanctuary, which is home to more than 700 free-roaming primates, and which covers more than 12 hectares (30 acres) of indigenous forest.

Day 7, Sat, 18.01.2025: Safari feeling

After a hearty breakfast, a full-day safari adventure by coach through Addo Elephant National Park is on the agenda. Home to over 600 elephants as well as lions, buffaloes, black rhinos, leopards, and spotted hyenas, the park is the third largest national park in South Africa. It is also known for its plethora of birds. An unforgettable day is guaranteed. If you’re feeling more adventurous, you can take part in a game drive in an open safari vehicle instead of by coach (additional fee, payable on site).

Day 8, Sun, 19.01.2025: Dreamy coast

Today with a heavy heart, you’ll leave the magical Addo region behind and head back along the Garden Route to Tsitsikamma National Park. On this coastal stretch of the Garden Route, you’ll find steep rocky cliffs, picturesque bays, wide sandy beaches, and dense evergreen rainforest – a true paradise!

Why
South Africa
?

  • Nelson Mandela was so right: “When you combine the natural beauty of South Africa with the hospitality and cultural diversity of our people, and also consider that the country is a haven for our wildlife, I am convinced that even the most conscientious critic would agree with me that we have been blessed with a truly wonderful country.” (Video)

  • Combine fantastic weather with the buzzing metropolis of Cape Town and you get a country bursting with joie de vivre. You’ll love South Africa!

  • South Africa is very progressive: it was the fifth country in the world and the first country in Africa to legalise same-sex marriage.

  • Cape Town is one of the world’s most popular gay destinations with a vibrant gay scene.

On your round trip, you’ll stay in five charming, mid-range hotels typical of the country – including the popular Protea Hotel Sea Point in Cape Town, not far from the Waterfront.

Get ready to explore Tsitsikamma National Park. The park is known for its ancient forest, pristine coastline, and beautiful rivers. On a hike, you’ll walk across the small beach and follow a boardwalk path that winds up and down through the coastal forest, offering fantastic views of the sea, the coast, and the estuary. The highlight of your hike is the 77-metre-long suspension bridge that spans the mouth of the Storm River and leads you to a pebble beach. From here, it is a steep climb up to a viewpoint with a fantastic view of the coast, but it’s definitely worth the effort!

FEEDBACK

John | UK

The trip was simply fantastic! South Africa has so much to offer and the people's positive attitude to life is simply infectious. A real contrast to us in Europe. The spectacular nature, the unique landscapes and the excellent food are further reasons for me to definitely come back.

Tom | Sweden

Thank you for organising this wonderful trip. I would definitely do it again if there weren't so many other destinations in the world. I always felt safe as a gay man in South Africa.

Marc | France

I was most impressed by Cape Town. This city is a real gem. You have this magical view of Table Mountain from everywhere. Plus the Atlantic Ocean, the breathtaking coastal roads, the penguins and, of course, the Cape of Good Hope.  Travelling in a group was a real enrichment for me. We got on really well and are still in contact.
